News - 4 MSc. Biostatistics Students Secure 2016 DELTAS-S2ACABT Scholarships

The first set of DELTAS scholarships to University of Malawi goes to four MSc. Biostatistics students: Nennie Lungu, Kamunkhwala Gausi, Fiskani Kondowe, and Jessie Khaki, standing from left to right in the picture below. The DELTAS-Sub-Saharan African Consortium for Advanced Biostatistical Training (S2ACABT) is a consortium of 20 African and Northern Institutions funded by Wellcome Trust, UK, with its secretariat at Wits University, RSA. It aims at enhancing Biostatistical graduate training capacity and boost the number of researchers and practitioners in low and middle-income countries. The MSc. scholarship package covers: Tuition fees and basic medical and accident insurance; Monthly stipend to cover accommodation and living expenses; and Support for Masters Research project supervision. To qualify for the award of fellowship, candidates must have strong background in Statistics, Mathematics, Demography, or related quantitative fields, but also meet entry criteria of the partner institution. This is a competitive scholarship and the Department of Mathematical Sciences would like to congratulate the four for securing this prestigious award and wish them well in their studies.
